Clearwater courthouse wedding… does not have to be a quick courthouse stop and a couple photos in front of the courthouse.
Becky and Troy made the legal part easy, then turned the rest of the day into something way more fun. They got married outside in the courthouse courtyard, had Becky’s best friend there as their witness, took celebratory beach photos at Sand Key Beach, popped champagne by the water, changed into something more comfy + ended the night on a boat with charcuterie, cake, Morgan Wallen, and more champagne. Always need more champagne.
Honestly? Solid freakin’ wedding day.
This is why I love courthouse elopements when couples let themselves think past the ceremony. Not because you have to make it complicated but because you’re allowed to make it FUN. You’re allowed to leave the courthouse and go do something that feels like the two of you. A celebration of your love intertwined with yolo vibes.
A boat ride. A rooftop drink. A favorite dinner spot. A little coastal adventure. Something out of the ordinary. Something simple. Something that makes you look at each other with excitement and say, “Yep, let’s do this.”
For Becky and Troy, that meant courthouse, beach, boat, snacks, music, champagne, and their favorite people. Hard to argue with that.
Becky and Troy got married at the Pinellas County Clerk of Circuit Court in Clearwater, Florida. They stayed nearby at the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach, which made the whole day flow really well because everything was close enough to make sense: courthouse, beach, and water.
That’s one of the best parts about planning a Clearwater courthouse wedding. You can keep the legal part simple without making the whole day feel like an errand. The courthouse can be the start of the day, not the whole plan.
And that’s exactly what they did.
They made it official, then went and celebrated in a way that actually fit them. No forcing or pressures of obligations just because “that’s what people do.” No trying to make the day something it wasn’t. Just an experience first elopement day that gave them room to get married, celebrate, laugh, listen to music, drink champagne, and actually let loose and enjoy themselves.
Simple does not have to mean boring + quick.

One of the coolest parts of Becky and Troy’s Clearwater courthouse wedding was that they were able to get married outside in the courthouse courtyard. Yeah, outside! I know right?
That little detail made the ceremony feel more personal. It still had the ease of a courthouse wedding but it didn’t feel like they were just walking into an office, signing papers, and leaving. They had a real ceremony moment outside with Becky’s best friend + her boo as there as their witnesses
And honestly, that was perfect.
Because for some that’s all you need… your person, your best friend + a simple plan that still feels good.
After the ceremony, we took some just married photos around the courthouse and obvi got a few bestie photos too. If your best friend shows up as your witness, she absolutely gets a spot in the story.
That’s what I love about courthouse weddings. You get to keep the parts that matter and drop the parts that don’t. For Becky and Troy, that meant making it legal, having her best friend there, taking a few meaningful photos, and then heading straight into the fun part of the day.

After the courthouse, we headed to Sand Key Beach for a quick celebratory stop.
And when I say quick, I mean we didn’t plan for it to be quick but we were being realistic. This was the end of April in Florida, which means it was already getting steamy. Florida was very much doing Florida things, so we didn’t try to force some long, dramatic beach session that would have had everyone even more sweaty and over it.
Instead, we made the beach stop short, fun, and worth it.
Becky made another outfit change into a beautiful dress that fit the vibe that we were going for in this portion of the day and I love a good dress change because why not keep it fun! They popped champagne, took playful photos by the water, and we used the rocks for a few portraits before moving on to the next part of the day. It gave them that coastal Clearwater feeling without turning the beach into the whole day.
That’s how I like to plan elopements. Not based on what looks good in theory but based on what will actually feel good in real life.
Because yes, beach photos are beautiful. But if it’s hot af and the sun is strong, and you still have a boat ride later, we’re not going to drag it out just to prove a point. We’re going to get the good stuff, keep the energy up, and keep it movin, before everyone starts melting including your bomb ass make up you got done!
The beach was a champagne pop, a few fun photos by the water, some portraits by the rocks, and a little “holy shit, we’re married” energy.
That was enough. And it worked.

After the courthouse and beach photos, Becky and Troy had time to reset before the boat. That break mattered because it gave them a second to breathe, cool off, and shift into celebration mode.
Becky also changed into a more comfortable outfit for the boat later on, which I loved. It made the second half of the day feel relaxed and easy. The official part was done. The beach stop was done. Now it was time to kick it + soak in all the feels of being married and the magic that are Florida westcoast sunsets.
Her best friend was there with her man too and that made the boat feel even more fun. Eloping does not always mean it has to be just the two of you. Sometimes the best version of your day includes the one or two people who make everything better.
The people who hype you up. The people who pour the champagne. The people who sing along with you, that dance with you and make the whole day feel more like home.
On the boat, they had a charcuterie board, snacks, cake, champagne, and Morgan Wallen playing while they cruised around Clearwater. Which if you know me, you know I love me some Morgan Wallen tunes and I will be singing and dancing right there with you! It was relaxed, a little booty shakin, a little country vibe, and very much their kind of celebration.
Natural. Easy. Authentic. Feel good vibes to call your wedding day.
Just newly married, on the water, eating snacks, drinking champagne, listening to music, and soaking in the fact that they actually did the damn thing.
That’s the kind of experience driven courthouse wedding energy I will always be obsessed with.

Becky and Troy originally thought about doing sunrise photos.
And listen, sunrise can be beautiful especially during the hot months here in Florida because we get crazy summer evening storms BUT once we talked through their courthouse timing, the beach, and what they actually wanted to do after getting married, the sunset boat idea made way more sense.
That’s a big part of how I help couples plan their elopement. You don’t need to show up with the whole day figured out. If you already have an idea, amazing. We build around it. If you’re thinking boat, rooftop, beach stop, bowling, brewery hoppinh, sunset picnic, or something completely random that feels like you, we’ll figure out how to make it work.
And if you have no clue? Also normal.
That’s where I help you sort through what actually fits. You’re not living in overwhelm and Googling a million ideas, I take the time to get to know you guys + your vibe and not just plan what sounds cute, but what makes sense with the courthouse, the weather, the drive time, the lighting, and the kind of experience you actually want to have.
For Becky and Troy, six hours worked because it gave the day room without making it feel like too much. They had time for the courthouse, courtyard ceremony, bestie photos, a quick beach stop, a break, and the boat.

A lot of couples hear “courthouse wedding” and assume they only need an hour or two.
And honestly, sometimes that’s true. If you just want the ceremony and a few photos nearby, that can work.
But if you want your courthouse wedding to feel more experience driven, you’re probably going to want more time to actually LIVE the day and feel it. Especially if you want to add another location, include your people, pop champagne, change outfits, rent a boat, go to the beach, or catch sunset.
That stuff needs room and your courthouse elopement shouldn’t feel like a checklist item.
Not because we’re trying to make it bigger than it needs to be. Because rushing sucks. And rushing through your wedding day? Absolutely not.
A 6 hour Clearwater courthouse wedding gives you space to move through the day without feeling like you’re constantly checking the clock. It gives you enough time for the legal part, the fun part, and the moments in between that make the gallery feel like an actual story.
For Becky and Troy, that looked like getting married in the courthouse courtyard, taking photos with her best friend, heading to Sand Key for champagne and beach portraits, taking a break, and then ending the night on a boat.
Simple. Fun. Done right.

2:30pm-3:15pm: Arrival + Courthouse Ceremony
Becky and Troy made it official at the Pinellas County Clerk of Circuit Court in Clearwater with an outdoor courtyard ceremony and her best friend as their witness.
3:15pm-3:45pm: Courthouse Portraits + Bestie Photos
After the ceremony, we took just married photos around the courthouse and made time for a few photos with her best friend too.
3:45pm – 4:00pm: Travel to Sand Key + Park
Allows time to travel + park without rushing
4:00pm-4:30pm: Celebratory Champagne Pop + Beach Portraits
Then we headed to Sand Key Beach for a quick celebratory stop with champagne, playful photos by the water, and portraits by the rocks.
Built In Break
They had time to reset before the boat, cool off, change, and get ready for the second half of the day.
6:00pm – 6:15pm: Arrive at Dock for Boat Celebration
Check in, board the yacht, get the party cruisin!
6:30pm – 8:30pm: Sunset on the Water
They ended the day on the water with a gorgeous sunset, salty sea are, charcuterie, snacks, cake, champagne, Morgan Wallen jams, and good company. The relaxed, just married feelin set in while they cruised the coast of Clearwater Beach celebrating.
That is the part I care about just as much as the photos.
Because yes, I’m going to photograph the hell out of it. But I’m also going to help you think through the day so it actually makes sense. The courthouse location, the timing, the heat, the parking, the beach stop, the backup options, the fun idea you’re not even sure is possible yet, we’ll talk through all of it.
You don’t need to become a wedding planner overnight just because you decided to elope.
That’s literally what I’m here for!
